Interest Age: 6 to 12
2012
ISBN: 9781607232094

The new, revised 2nd Edition of The Processing Program: Levels 2 and 3 helps improve language-processing skills using a set of picture-identification tasks. Teachers learn how to identify the modifications a student needs. The program includes:

  • Language Webs, organised by linguistic concepts
  • Altered Auditory Input (AAI) technique with picture plates and commands
  • 119 picture plates for Level 2 and 65 picture plates for Level 3

You'll learn how to identify the type of modifications needed for each child and then how to fade use of the AAI technique. The technique can be taught to the child's communication partners, especially the child's parents.

Level 2 targets 101 advanced concepts for children ages 6 to 9 years. Level 3 uses many of the same concepts as Level 2, as well as 17 additional concepts, in longer and more complex command combinations for children ages 9 to 12 years. Age, however, is not the sole determinant for level use. For example, older children with more severe language disorders who need remediation of primary level concepts will still benefit from Level 1 activities.

The Processing Program: Levels 2 and 3 is a great resource for children who have difficulty processing or learning language, including those with attention deficit disorders, auditory processing disorders, autism, and cochlear implants.

Note: To begin The Processing Program: Levels 2 and 3 it is not necessary to complete Level 1.

"This was a must have in my collection of speech and language materials. Finding appropriate comprehension activities for middle schoolers can be difficult, but this appears to fit the bill! i use it as challenge activity with my students and they love it!"
- Amy Y,  Meyersdale Pa

"Excelent for kids and adults too. Organized and structured. Bright colors."
- FCorrea,  Boca Raton, FL

"The pictures are nice quality. I like that it is categorized into levels of difficulty. Overall, a very nice resource to have!"
- Tiffany R.H.,  Stillwater, OK

"I am really starting to like this program. I wish that they had an answer key (lol) so I could take a little better data. I have to look at what the child points to and make sure it's right, then plus/minus it, and go to next one with out them getting distracted. I could save a head movement (and time) if it were already on there for me. Overall though, I think this is helping with those discrimination and specific listening skills that so many struggle with!"
- A Morley,  Atlanta, GA

"I found the processing program to be very helpful. I have utilized the program with two of my clients and have found the recording forms useful."
- Kelsey C.,  Fargo, ND

"I purchased levels 2 and 3 of the older version of this program. This new edition is far superior with more complex processing challenges."
- Mary,  Ireland

"The colorful pictures provide a resourceful way in which to engage children in following multi-step directions. The book is also handy when traveling to provide services."
- Connie H.,  Gardiner, NY

"I bought the level one and two books together during a recent sale. I use these two and the grammar processing books to check comprehension of concepts after they have been taught to the student. They're incredibly valuable and useful!"
- Lorren H.,  Michigan
