Operating With Verbs

Verbs in English are often followed by prepositions that influence their meaning. The words run and pass, for example, can have a variety of meanings: run pass, run through pass over, run out pass out

run over pass through, run by pass by.

The many meanings of verbs often cause difficulty for students with language disorders or limited proficiency in English. The activities in this book focus specifically on two-word phrases with verbs that are often confusing for students. The activities challenge students to define words and to make comparisons as they talk about verbs.
