Skillstreaming in Early Childhood Lesson Plans and Activities is an engaging skill-building component designed to supplement the curriculum of the highly interactive Skillstreaming in Early Childhood program. Lesson Plans and Activities provides a comprehensive resource that instructors and school counsellors can use to help children move successfully from skill introduction to confident mastery in real life social situations.

Students can learn important strategies, such as how to set goals, solve problems, develop impulse control, co-operate, anticipate consequences and think aloud. Age appropriate and fun exercises help children refine skills and successfully apply them in complex, human interactions, both in and out of the classroom.

This manual features more than 350 easy-to-use lesson plans and related activities. In addition, the accompanying CD contains over 160 printable exercises. Each is designed to help children learn about their feelings and practice healthy social interactions through easily implementable lesson plans. Activities are provided for at least one week of supplementary instruction for each of the 40 skills in the early childhood curriculum.

From parents, to teachers to social workers and early childhood counsellors, there is a growing need to support healthy social/emotional learning in today’s young children. These skills have been found to be critical for success in school, as well as in adulthood. Research shows that early intervention is essential.

For a wide range of early childhood learning programs and settings, Skillstreaming is a trusted and proven learning asset. Skillstreaming in Early Childhood Lesson Plans and Activities helps your pre-school or kindergarten program create a safe, productive learning experience while preventing school and behavioural failure and while also laying the foundation for education and life success.

The scope of the Skillstreaming program was initially used as a strategy to remediate behavioural skill deficits in select groups of children. It is especially effective when combined with the daily behavioural practice of Lesson Plans and Activities. With its practical and practice-based approach, the Skillstreaming program’s popularity has broadened. It has now become a widely accepted social-emotional strategy applied in pre-schools, day-care settings, public schools, and beyond.
