Vicky Vachon

Dr. Vicky Vachon is an educational consultant to school districts in the United States and Canada. She began her career as a classroom teacher in 1971. In 1983, she completed a master’s degree in education at the University of Oregon. Upon returning to Canada, she worked as a teacher for the Toronto Board of Education. She was assigned to a multidisciplinary assessment team at the Child Development Clinic, Hospital for Sick Children, for nine years. In 1995, Dr. Vachon returned to the University of Oregon to complete a doctoral degree in special education. Her doctoral dissertation was about the effects of mastery of multisyllabic word reading component skills and the effects of context on the word and text reading skills of middle school students with reading deficiencies. She is a project director for the National Institute for Direct Instruction, overseeing the usage of language arts and math curricula in several schools.
