Dr Peter Vermeulen is one of the most engaging, vibrant, innovative but practical international experts, recognised for his significant contribution to the autism field. Peter's insightful concept of context blindness has changed the way we view and support those with autism.
He holds a Masters in Psychology and Pedagogical Sciences at the University of Leuven, Belgium, and a PhD in Psychology and Pedagogical Sciences at the University of Leiden, The Netherlands.
Peter trained as a counsellor and educationalist. and has more than 25 years' experience working with children and adults on the autism spectrum. At present he works as an autism consultant, lecturer and trainer at Autisme Centraal, based in Belgium, and as Chief Editor of its bi-monthly magazine. Peter is President of the Editorial Board of the Belgian-Dutch Journal of Special Education, Child Psychiatry and Clinical Psychology. He has also worked for the Flemish Autism Association in Belgium as a home trainer for families with a child with autism, Director of the Home Training Centre, and a trainer and lecturer. He is active as a trainer all over Europe, the United State, Canada, South Africa and Australia.
