María Elena Argüelles

María Elena Argüelles, Ph.D., is an educational consultant who provides support to states, school districts, and schools in their implementation of effective reading instruction for young English language learners (ELs) and struggling learners. Dr. Argüelles is the coauthor of several publications and a consultant to publishers that develop programs for struggling readers and ELs. In addition, she has teaching experience at the public school level as well as at the undergraduate and graduate levels. Her primary areas of interest are early reading instruction, students with reading difficulties, and reading instruction for ELs.
