Working memory and auditory processing difficulties are two separate neurological conditions which reflect processes that occur in different parts of the brain. However, there is a significant overlap in the presentation of auditory processing difficulties and working memory difficulties and the accommodations, interventions and strategies needed to help and support children with these difficulties are often broadly the same, so for that reason shared Target Ladders has been developed
Using Target Ladders: Working Memory and Auditory Processing will enable teachers, teaching assistants and SENCOs to identify appropriate learning goals for independent learning, to adapt the suggested strategies or ideas for their own pupils, and to begin to impact on children’s working memory and auditory processing difficulties in order to close the gap between these children and their peers.
